Musa Okwonga

Musa Okwonga is a writer, broadcaster, poet, musician, communications adviser and commentator on current affairs, including culture, politics, sport, race and sexuality and will be performing as part of Scroobius Pip’s Satin Lizard Lounge in the Amphitheatre.

Musa writes and performs his poetry at various venues, and private events. He is often commissioned to write poems for the BBC World Service, and has performed his work, among others, at Latitude, Bestival and Glastonbury Festivals, at the Southbank Centre and BBC Broadcasting House, the Tällberg Forum and the Palace of Versailles, the latter for an audience of EU environment ministers. The winner of the 1996 WHSmith Young Writers Competition, he has taught in several schools and has set his poetry to music, having performed with bass music producers LV, singer-songwriter Cerys Matthews and jazz musicians Arun Ghosh, Corey Mwamba and Soweto Kinch.
