Reuniting to celebrate 20 years since the release of their debut album ‘southernplayalisticadillacmusik’, 2014 sees the return of hip-hop’s most enigmatic sons Big Boi and Andre 3000.

Together again as OutKast for the first time in 8 years, the pair have achieved more in their relatively short career than most of the greats have in twice that time.

Between 1996 and 2004 there was literally no bigger act in the game, they played by nobody else’s rules and their unique sound shaped rap and hip-hop like no other. Fusing funk, rock, electronica, gospel, soul and psychedelia their music was breathtakingly adventurous, OutKast didn’t just think outside the box they ignored the box altogether, coupling the virtuoso musicality of Prince and George Clinton with a socially conscious style of rhyme that kept it all relevant they held the world of music spellbound.

With every release, from their sophomore effort ‘ATLiens’ onwards they broke records, selling millions of records and redefining hip-hop as an art form. Fourth long player ‘Stankonia’ took the phenomenon global making them worldwide with singles ‘Ms Jackson’ and ‘So Fresh, So Clean’ topping charts across the planet and the album achieving quadruple platinum status.

It was all to end though with the release of the magnificent double album Speakerboxxx/The Love Below in 2003. With Big Boi and Andre taking an album each and managing to make it their own and maintain the majesty of the OutKast sound at the same time it was the first and remains the only album to win the Grammy for best album, an astonishing achievement when you think about how saturated the genre has become.

Back together now as much for the fans as for any other reason we are incredibly excited to welcome OutKast to Bestival as our Friday night headliner for what promises to be one of the most spectacular shows we’ve ever witnessed, stank you smelly much one and all!
